In
times past the tribes in North East India
lived in isolation, cut off from one another.
Raids and fights for survival were not uncommon.
Each tribe developed its own weapons both
for defense and for offence. This gallery
displays these traditional weapons used
by the different tribes. They are the cultural
artefacts of the past, and at the same time,
they are filled with memories of how people
struggled for survival.

The
North East of India with its variety of cultures
is a continuous feast of colours! Colourful shawls
and ornaments are the pride of every tribe. The
costumes and ornaments gallery provides a window,
however small it may be, to the feast of colours
that goes on in far-away corners as well as in
nearby towns and villages.
